Benvoulin Church is located at what was once the Benvoulin Town
site, which was laid out by pioneer land promoter, Mr. G. G. McKay.
This is also the site of the McIver House, (1890’s) one
of the city’s unique heritage settings.
It is also home to Xeriscape and Heritage Gardens. The Benvoulin
Heritage Church was originally a Presbyterian Church built in
1892 in the Gothic Revival style. The original tower was replaced
in 1953 and the steeple replaced during restoration in the early
1980’s. Now fully restored, this charming pioneer church
has become one of the most popular locations for weddings.
Though right in the city, it offers a historical location in
a country setting. The tall steeple on this white shiplap building
has been landmark for over a century. It is located at 2279 Benvoulin
Road and is open to visitors each afternoon when there isn’t
a wedding scheduled.
