The Laurel Packinghouse, a nationally-designated heritage landmark, is the oldest and largest standing packinghouse in British Columbia. The Laurel Packinghouse is located in Kelowna’s Cultural District and is home to the BC Wine Museum & VQA Wine Shop and the BC Orchard Industry Museum. The Laurel Packinghouse was built over the winter of 1917-1918 of bricks made locally from clay from Knox Mountain.
The Douglas fir posts lining the center of the building are original typical structural timber. Once painted green, the posts now show the original circular saw blade marks. The light fixtures in the building are largely original to the early 1920s while some date to the 1930s and 1950s. Its address is 1304 Ellis Street (on the corner of Cawston and Ellis).
