The purpose of this museum is to preserve the military and naval history of the region.
You’ll be impressed with the displays and comprehensive military information that resides here. The museum has a significant collection of military artifacts including small arms, uniforms, insignia, badges and equipment.
The museum has a superb collection of firearms that is one of the best in western Canada. The collection offers artifacts from the Boer War, World War I and II, and the Korean War. An extensive collection of medals and photographs assist in telling the story of these organizations and of the Okanagan connection with other services and units in the Canadian Forces. For those interested in research, there is a reference library of over 3,000 books.
Included in this archive is a growing collection of original documents, diaries, letters and certificates of significance to our military history. Admission to the museum is free; however donations are appreciated. The Okanagan Military Museum is located in the Memorial Arena building in Kelowna at 1424 Ellis Street.
